how was your sunday? my sundays are usually quiet affairs. mostly spent at home, it's the only sleep in day of the week, i languish over breakfast, read the papers, catch up with family, spend the day cooking and getting into some housework.
not last sunday though, oh no,no,no.
last sunday i was the responsible adult accompanying my miss 13, my first husbands' miss 13 and my niece and her school friend to a special event.four months back (give a week or two) my miss 13 decided to organise a cosplay event.
she is a quiet and retiring, shy, wee lass but, pop her in a cosplay costume and she becomes a singing, dancing drama queen (well almost)
the event was a photo shoot, a chance for like minded young folk to meet up, have a bit of a giggle, share a picnic lunch, snap some pics and get up to the shenanigans that only aficionados of anime and manga can get up to.
a chance to get out the wigs, bust out the false eyelashes, frock up and get down and sparkly with your buddies.
the word went out on facebook and before you knew it there was a gang of around 50 vocoloid and kuro look alikes gathered in the fitzroy gardens.
the make up and preening process took around two hours.
the train ride into the city attracted no end of attention and the walk down to the gardens raised lots of questions from passers by.
on arrival in the gardens they gathered, they chatted, they admired each others costumes, they climbed trees, they posed for photos,
they danced and sang,
they laughed a lot, they provided a bit of entertainment for the diners at maccas in Victoria St but generally they just hung out. some five hours later we trod a weary path home.
it was a glorious melbourne day and the slow amble back to the train station offered time for taking in some of Melbourne's sights,
such as St Paul's Cathedral and The Treasury Gardens.
a bus of tourists pulled up outside Parliament House as we made our way to the station. as the group of Japanese tourists alighted from the bus we could hear their excited chatter and were quickly surrounded by them shooting cameras every which way. i think they wondered if the bus has been transported to Tokyo.
finally, some footsore and tired girls were home with huge smiles and after careful make up removal and showers they hunkered down to post their hundreds of photos on facebook.
if only i had remembered to apply some suncreen to my poor back and arms
☹
Wow looks like amazing fun....although I do have to admit that I had to Google those words...totally foreign to me....but does look incredibly fun. xx
